Contamination of Tris(4-Chlorophenyl) Methane and Tris(4-Chlorophenyl) Methanol in Marine Mammals from Russia and Japan: Body Distribution, Bioaccumulation and Contamination Status

摘要: Four seal species (Phoca caspica, Phoca sibirica, hispida and largha) one whale (Orcinus orca) from Russia Japan were examined to determine the body distribution, bioaccumulation contamination status of tris(4-chlorophenyl) methane (TCPMe) methanol (TCPMOH). Lipid normalized concentrations TCPMe TCPMOH comparable in various organs tissues, implying that their distribution is followed lipid-dependent accumulation, similar for other organochlorines. The highest burden these compounds was found blubber. Bioaccumulation potential high PCBs DDTs. Relatively higher observed Caspian than examined. concentration killer marine mammals Another peak detected had mass spectrum TCPMOH, however, at a different retention time, suggesting presence an isomer TCPMOH.
