Wolf (Canis lupus) feeding habits during the first eight years of its occurrence in Germany

摘要: Due to the fact that feeding habits of large carnivores are main contentious point when they start resettling regions were absent from for several decades, diet composition wolves in Germany was analysed beginning this process. Wolves primarily feed on wild ungulates, which make up more than 96% their diet. The dominating prey species is roe deer (55.3%), followed by red (20.8%) and boar (17.7%). second important food category leporids (2.9% Biomass), whereas livestock makes only 0.6% all biomass consumed. clearly prefer hunting juvenile adult deer; not selected after age. We found seasonal differences with a higher amount spring winter, high juveniles weakened animals, respectively, available. In first years study percentage much higher, therefore lower following years. wolf fluctuated most three Diet remained constant during last five needed less two generations adapting new conditions cultivated landscape eastern Germany.
