摘要: The quality of biodiversity inputs to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in areas with high value was investigated by reviewing the a sample Biodiversity Assessments (BIAs) Cape Floristic Region (CFR), South Africa. results suggest that while overall performance satisfactory, several inadequacies were evident, confirming international trends. Inadequacies relate consideration alternatives, public consultation, monitoring programmes, and gathering baseline data during inappropriate seasons over insufficient time periods. Positive outcomes include incorporation ecosystems processes studies assessment as well wide adoption precautionary approach impact prediction. It is recommended best practice guidance developed implemented Western Province, be adopted widely possible other provinces, BIA practitioner community alerted revealed weakness report quality.
