摘要: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a rare pregnancy-related liver disease characterized by pruritus, abnormal function tests, and an increased risk fetal complications. An increase in the levels bile acids considered to be diagnostic hallmark disease. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) currently most effective therapy. Tribe et al. (this issue) hypothesized that measuring longitudinal profiles individual would provide further insight into mechanisms They used novel chromatography method, which allowed simultaneous measurement 15 serum between 16 weeks 4 post-partum. ICP was associated with predominant rise cholic conjugated taurine glycine from 24 pregnancy. UDCA treatment significantly reduced taurocholic taurodeoxycholic concentrations. Finally, were similar normal pruritus gravidarum. The study presents significant contribution solution this enigmatic expanding our knowledge on pathophysiology proposing convenient method for diagnosis monitoring disorder.
