摘要: Antithrombin III (AT III) supplementation has proven to be effective in the treatment of disseminated intravascular coagulation. Administration AT is also useful for prevention organ failure animals challenged with endotoxin or bacteria and it increases survival rate such animals. Since inhibition coagulation abnormalities failed prevent given bacteria, may exert a therapeutic effect independent its anticoagulant effect. This mechanism been explored using an animal model septicemia. prevented pulmonary vascular injury by inhibiting leukocyte activation rats endotoxin. mediated promotion endothelial release prostacyclin which inhibits activation. Interaction heparin-like glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) on cell surface appears important this Heparin these effects preventing from interacting GAGs. activity explain why prevents as well patients sepsis. antiinflammatory ischemia/reperfusion-induced dysfunction, activated leukocytes play critical role.
