摘要: Organizational coordination has traditionally been viewed from an organizational-design perspective where rules, modalities, and structures are used to meet the information-processing demands of environment. Fast-response organizations face unique challenges as they operate under conditions high uncertainty fast decision making, mistakes can be catastrophic. Based on in-depth investigation practices a medical trauma center fast-response error-free activities essential requirements, we develop coordination-practice that emphasizes expertise dialogic coordination. We argue (reliance protocols, community practice structuring, plug-and-play teaming, knowledge sharing) manage distributed ensure timely application necessary expertise. suggest (epistemic contestation, joint sensemaking, cross-boundary intervention, protocol breaking) time-critical responses novel events operation. However, highly contested because epistemic differences, reputation stakes, possible blame apportionment.
