摘要: Abstract 1. Uniformly labelled [32P]DNA from Escherichia coli was irradiated in dilute solution with a 60Co-γ-source to produce single-strand breaks the nucleotide chain. The action of exonuclease III on 3′-end groups radiation-induced studied. 2. Exonuclease splits off phosphate at 3′ end before mononucleotides are released. It shown that, γ-irradiated DNA, 20 % carry 3′-phosphate groups. 3. kinetics release by studied and compared corresponding reactions enzymatically degraded DNA containing 3′-OH or that 62±10 which can be attacked III. 4. various mechanisms leading chain breakage discussed.
