摘要: • Magnetic resonance imaging was used to investigate whether the structural brain differences commonly observed in patients with schizophrenia as compared normal control subjects are specific gray or white matter, and furthermore such abnormalities localizable circumscribed cortical regions. Accordingly, 22 meeting DSM-III-R criteria for 20 healthy community volunteers, all 23 45 years old, received magnetic scans. Seven axial sections of 5-mm thickness were segmented into cerebrospinal fluid, matter compartments volumetric quantification. For subjects, age correlated significantly percentage taken up by but not matter. After correcting effect age, schizophrenic group found have less than no difference matter; ventricular volume 34% greater group. The had six subregions analyzed; these attained statistical significance parietal measure. These findings implications studies localized suggest that regional measurements need be expressed context possible widespread deficits schizophrenia.
