摘要: This paper assesses the effects on suburbia of an energy transition to less carbon- or petroleum-intensive urban forms using a socio-technical theoretical perspective. The argues that while is predominant form urbanisation in advanced nations, especially North America and Australia, its composition insufficiently understood by scholars. Using perspective, should be seen complex ‘assemblage’ configured through socio-material relations land use, transport technology, money credit. system also differentiated social status infrastructure access deficits. faces number challenges from principally due heavy mobility reliance motor vehicles. sets out some potential trajectories transformation for under transition.
