摘要: Hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcy) is regarded as an independent and strong risk factor for cerebrovascular diseases, stroke, dementias. The hippocampus has a crucial role in spatial navigation memory processes being constantly studied neurodegenerative disorders. We used moderate methionine (Met) diet at dose of 2 g/kg animal weight/day duration four weeks to induce mild hHcy adult male Wistar rats. A novel approach been explore the hippocampal metabolic changes using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS), involving 7T MR scanner combination with histochemical immunofluorescence analysis. found alterations profile, well remarkable histo-morphological such increase volume, number morphology astrocytes, neurons, their selective vulnerable brain area animals treated Met-enriched diet. Results both methodologies suggest that induced by alters pattern, profile area, which might eventually endorse processes.
