摘要: Protein transport into the nucleus is governed by interaction of soluble factors with their import substrates and nuclear pore complexes. Here, we identify a major distinct pathway, mediated previously uncharacterized yeast beta karyopherin Kap123p. The predominant for this pathway are ribosomal proteins, which must be imported prior to assembly pre-ribosomes. Kap123p binds directly its substrates, repeat motif-containing nucleoporins, Ran-GTP. We show that related protein Pse1p also can functionally substitute Kap123p; both capable specifically directing localization signal reporter in vivo.
