摘要: This chapter summarizes the main contributions for antiviral development from scientists in Latin America last decade. Antiviral research this region has been mainly focused on search alternative therapeutic agents herpes simplex virus infections and of strategies to handle neglected viral diseases that represent a serious threat local public health. The potential natural extracts compounds isolated vast diversity plants, algae, other sources also explored. Similarly, study efficacy mode action variety synthetic reveals ongoing progress region. In addition, approaches based host factors as targets use bioinformatics methods allow structure-based design inhibitors have strongly emerged during years powerful tools used by Latin-American researchers novel strategies.
