摘要: Live video delivery is expected to reach a peak of 50 Tbps this year. This surging popularity fundamentally changing the Internet landscape. CDNs must meet users' demands for fast join times, high bitrates, and low buffering ratios, while minimizing their own cost responding issues in real-time. Wide-area latency, loss, failures, as well varied workloads ("mega-events" long-tail), make meeting these challenging. An analysis sessions concluded that centralized controller could improve user experience, but CDN systems have shied away from such designs due difficulty quickly handling requirement both operators users. We introduce VDN, practical approach network uses algorithm live optimization. VDN provides with real-time, fine-grained control. It does spite challenges resulting wide-area (e.g., state inconsistency, partitions, failures) by using hybrid centralized+distributed control plane, increasing average bitrate 1.7x decreasing 2x different scenarios.
