摘要: The cardiac stroma plays essential roles in health and following damage. major player of the with respect to extracellular matrix deposition, maintenance remodeling is poorly defined fibroblast. It has long been recognized that there considerable variability fibroblast phenotype. With advent new, high throughput analytical methods our understanding appreciation this heterogeneity grown dramatically. This review aims explore diversity fibroblasts highlights new insights into diverse nature these cells their progenitors as revealed by single cell sequencing fate mapping studies. We propose at least part observed related existence a differentiation cascade within stromal cells. Beyond in-organ heterogeneity, we also discuss how response damage differs between non-regenerating organs such heart regenerating skeletal muscle. In exploring possible causes for differences, outline although fibrogenic from different overlap many properties, they still possess organ-specific transcriptional signatures biases make them functionally distinct.
