摘要: Purpose To determine whether medical student intubation proficiency with a neonatal mannequin differs according to weekly or consecutive day practice sessions during six-week pediatric clerkship. Method From July 2010 through June 2011, the authors prospectively randomized 110 third-year students into three groups: standard (control; no sessions), (practice once/week for four weeks), once/day days). At baseline, performed individual using (SimNewB). Two reviewers, blinded group, viewed videotapes of intubations and independently scored on equipment selection, procedural skill steps, length attempts (in seconds), number (up three) needed successful intubation. Videotaped final assessment week six were evaluated in same manner. Results Students groups better at all variables than group (P Conclusions Practice improved aspects performance, including choosing correct equipment, properly performing time intubation, success rate, novice health care providers simulation setting. Over weeks, neither format proved superior, but it remains unclear one is superior learning retention over long term actual practice.
