摘要: The intervertebral disc (IVD) is the most avascular and acellular tissue in body therefore prone to degeneration. During IVD degeneration, balance between anabolic catabolic processes deregulated, amongst others leading alteration of extracellular matrix production, abnormal enzyme activities production pro-inflammatory substances like cytokines. established treatment strategy for degeneration consists physiotherapy, pain medication by drug therapy if necessary surgery. This approach, however, has shown limited success. Alternative strategies increase prolong effects bioactive agents reverse process include use delivery systems drugs, proteins, cells genes. In view specific anatomy physiology depending on therapy, different have been developed which are reviewed this article.
