摘要: Abstract The blood-brain barrier (B-BB) in conscious rats was opened to Evans blue dye by carotid infusion of a 1.8 m arabinose solution or acute unilateral hypertension, following which [14C]2-deoxy- d -glucose injected intravenously. Rats were killed 45 min later, and autoradiographs made from frozen brain sections. Focal areas increased optical density, “hot spots,” noted regions when the B-BB but absent integrity unaffected. These hot spots, represented accumulations radioactivity, not prevented diet-induced hypokalemia systemic pretreatment with high doses phenoxybenzamine propranolol. Their cause remains unclear, their induction both hypertensive osmotic opening suggests that damage, regardless cause, can markedly disturb cerebral metabolism.
