摘要: Due primarily to wolf (Canis lupus) predation on livestock (depredation), some producers and other interest groups oppose conservation, which is an important objective for large sectors of the public. Predicting depredation occurrence difficult, yet necessary prevent it. Better prediction also would facilitate application sound management actions. In this paper we analyze temporal trends in control, employed as a action. We gathered data from investigations Alberta, Canada, 1982–1996 Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, USA, 1987–2003. showed that attacks occurred with seasonal pattern, reflecting seasonality calving, grazing practices, variation energetic requirements packs. Seasonal were auto-correlated lags one year, indicating annual reoccurrence. Cross-correlation analyses indicated limited control was rapidly short-term response depredation, not designed decrease at regional scale or long-term. therefore discovered reoccurring seasonal-annual pattern western North America. Ranchers managers could use our focusing investment resources increases during high-depredation seasons.
