The Veronesi quadrantectomy: An historical overview

摘要: Following a clinical trial in which the Halsted mastectomy was compared to less invasive quadrantectomy, no differences were reported terms of local recurrence, disease-free or overall survival between two. As result, Umberto Veronesi first world state that radical appeared involve unnecessary mutilation patients with breast cancer than 2 cm and palpable axillary nodes. To date, quadrantectomy is routinely considered for treatment. This brief review, highlights main advances over last 50 years, dedicated Professor Veronesi.
