Adsorption of DNA and dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide mixtures at the air/water interface: a neutron reflectometry study.

摘要: The interactions between dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide (C12TAB) and two samples of DNA with widely differing molecular weights have been studied using surface tension neutron reflectometry. Neutron reflection data show that the surfactant polymer are adsorbed together in a highly cooperative fashion over 1000-fold change concentration. Furthermore, shorter fragments adsorb C12TAB as trilayers at higher concentrations, overall layer thicknesses 65−70 A. high weight DNA, however, shows only approximate monolayer adsorption varying from 19 to 26 A entire range concentrations. difference behavior different is believed be result rigid double helical structure which makes formation bulk phase polymer/micelle aggregates much less favorable for short fragments. resulting increase critical aggregation concentration (CAC) then leads ...
