摘要: We present a meta-analysis to test the hypothesis that presence of high level bulky DNA adducts in tissues is associated with an increased risk cancer humans. Seven articles were selected matched selection criteria, for total 691 patients and 632 control subjects. In five studies cases had lung cancer, one oral bladder cancer. Six measured WBCs normal tissue around tumor tissue. case-control investigations, was study on nested within cohort. Current smokers showed statistically significant difference between controls, having 83% higher levels than controls (95% confidence interval, 0.44-1.22). Results negative or contradictory ex-smokers nonsmokers. This observation confirmed by sensitivity analyses. Publication bias does not seem be problem. Despite some methodological limitations, our shows current have cancers. conclusion also suggests similar (aromatic) compounds may involved etiology both types
