摘要: North American incidence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is expected to more than double over the coming generation. Although genetic factors surrounding production and clearance amyloid-β phosphorylated tau proteins are known be responsible for a subset early-onset AD cases, they do not explain pathogenesis far prevalent sporadic late-onset variant disease. It thus likely that lifestyle environmental contribute neurodegenerative processes implicated in AD. Herein, we review evidence (1) excess sucrose consumption induces AD-associated liver pathologies brain insulin resistance, (2) chronic stress overdrives activity locus coeruleus neurons, leading loss function (a common event neurodegeneration), (3) high-sugar diets promote neuroprotective sex hormones men women, (4) Western dietary trends set stage lithium-deficient state. We propose these may intersect as part "perfect storm" widespread prevalence neurodegeneration In addition, put forth argument exercise supplementation with trace lithium can counteract many deleterious consequences associated excessive caloric intake perpetual stress. conclude simple changes help their effects.
