摘要: Glaucoma is one of the leading causes blindness in developed world. It a progressive optic neuropathy where structural loss retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons corresponds with functional visual field defect. distinguished from other neuropathies by its selective RGC axons. Superior and inferior peripheral nerve sectors are found to be most vulnerable pressure induced injury whereas inner temporal sector resilient (Quigley et al., 1988). Pathogenesis behind preferential axonal damage pattern still poorly understood.
