Modern liquid chromatographic techniques for the separation of Nd and Sr for isotopic analyses

A conventional high-performance chromatograph (HPLC) has been evaluated rapid isolation pure fractions Nd, Sr, Sm Rb from dissolved-rock solutions. Fractions Rb, +Sm were separated in 10 rain. a rock solution, one another with second 10-rain. separation. cleaner than those obtained by classical ion-exchange procedures, stable-ion signals containing >~ 30 ng Nd. Conventional laboratory facilities used all HPLC procedures except filament loading, total sample blanks 80 pg 250 Sr. No significant mass interferences observed or fractions. The agreement between results ~VSr/S~Sr ~4:~Nd/144Nd ratios was within +_ 0.003% ( l a) BCR-1 standard number basalts phonolites.
