摘要: Among 257 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae collected in Brooklyn, NY, 24% were found to possess blaKPC. Clinical microbiology laboratories that used automated broth microdilution systems reported 15% the KPC-possessing as susceptible imipenem. The imipenem MIC was be markedly affected by inoculum. For accurate detection K. pneumoniae, particular attention should paid proper inoculum preparation for broth-based susceptibility methods. In addition, using ertapenem or meropenem class reporting carbapenem will improve detection.
