摘要: In 1988, there was a marked increase in the mortality rate of common seal (Phoca vitulina) European waters which shown to be associated with canine distemper-like virus (CDV), recently named Phocid Distemper Virus (Cosby et al., 1988). Investigations were carried out determine ability seals respond immunologically and levels antibody produced. Common immunoglobulins purified, analysed similar those other mammals. A simple immunoassay measure antibodies CDV developed showed striking differences between susceptible (low antibodies) surviving (high amounts anti-distemper antibodies). Similar results obtained neutralization test currently used titres distemper dog. The adult had high may protected for future years, whereas younger did not develop antibodies. This because either encountered or effective immunity.
