Cellular and molecular insights on the regulation of innate immune responses to experimental aspergillosis in chicken and turkey poults

摘要: Across the world, many commercial poultry flocks and captive birds are threatened by infection with Aspergillus fumigatus. Susceptibility to aspergillosis varies among birds; galliform specifically, morbidity mortality rates seem be greater in turkeys than chickens. Little is known regarding features of avian immune responses after inhalation conidia, date, scarce information on inflammatory during exists. Thus, present study, we aimed improve our understanding interactions between A. fumigatus economically relevant terms local innate responses. Intra-tracheal aerosolization conidia turkey chicken poults led more severe clinical signs lung lesions turkeys, but leukocyte recovery from lavages was higher chickens at 1dpi only. Interestingly, only CD8+ T lymphocyte proportions increased infection. Furthermore, lungs infected showed an early upregulation pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1β, IFN-γ IL-6, whereas most these cytokines a downregulation or delayed upregulation. These results confirmed importance response ensure development appropriate anti-fungal immunity avoid dissemination respiratory tract. In conclusion, show for first time that differences may determine outcome disease. Lay summary cause poultry, depending species sensitivity. This study confirms earlier activation chickens' effectors control dissemination, turkeys' enables exacerbation lesions.
