摘要: Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET-CT) is routinely used for staging and monitoring of human cancer patients becoming increasingly available in veterinary medicine. In this study, 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG)-PET-CT was dogs with naturally occurring splenic hemangiosarcoma (HSA) to assess its utility as a modality compared standard radiography ultrasonography. Nine stage-2 HSA underwent 18FDG-PET-CT following splenectomy prior commencement chemotherapy. Routine (thoracic abdominal ultrasonography) performed all dogs. When abnormalities not identified on routine tests were noted 18FDG-PET-CT, owners given the option repeat PET-CT treatment eBAT. A scan repeated Day 21 three Abnormalities observed conventional tools, most consistent malignant disease based location, appearance, outcome, detected two included right atrial mass hepatic nodule, respectively. These lesions larger had higher metabolic activity second scans. has potential provide important prognostic information influence recommendations HSA. Additional studies will be needed precisely define value imaging tool therapy other cancers.
