摘要: SULT1A1 enzyme is a member of the sulfotransferase family that alters biological activities numerous carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds through sulfation. A genetic polymorphism in coding region gene has been associated with modulated activity. There G-->A nucleotide codes for an Arg-->His substitution, which results decreased activity thermal stability enzyme. Utilizing case-control study design, we hypothesized variant allele may be lung cancer risk. The PCR-RFLP assay was used to successfully genotype SULT1A1*2 (variant A-allele) 463 Caucasian cases 485 frequency matched controls. overall significant difference between controls when adjusted by sex smoking status (adjusted OR=1.41, 95% CI: 1.04-1.91). OR higher females (OR=1.64, 1.06-2.56) than males (OR=1.23, 0.80-1.88). Furthermore, risk significantly current smokers (OR=1.74, 1.08-2.29) heavy (OR=1.45, 1.05-2.00). Our support hypothesis increased
