摘要: OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of folate treatment on homocysteine (HCY) levels in patients with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). We also made an attempt to analyze HCY relation other risk factors present these patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The was a randomised, non-blind clinical trial carried out 84 angiographically documented CAD and 40 controls (angiographically proved normal or treadmill test negative). Biochemical analyses glucose, insulin, HCY, lipid profile C-Reactive Proteins (CRP) were conducted serum samples collected from Treatment folic acid (5 mg/day) for 3 months given hyperhomocysteinemia post-treatment analyzed. RESULTS: mean plasma level control volunteers found be 17.85±1.4 µmol/L, which significantly lower than those (24.69±2.8 µmol/L). higher non-diabetic (30.33±3.9 µmol/L) as compared (18.18±1.6 well diabetic (14.53±1.43 µmol/L), irrespective presence hypertension. No correlation between total (t-HCY) triglycerides, VLDL, LDL, HDL, cholesterol CRP levels. A negative t-HCY age highest younger group (30-40 years) (49±7.8 There significant reduction after mild moderate hyperhomocystienemic but severe not significant. CONCLUSION: have subjects without CAD. Indian cardiac disease. Folate decreases homocysteinemia thus can used homocysteinemia.
