摘要: Osteoarthritis (OA), among other bone pathologies, is expected to determine supramolecular changes at the level of mineralized collagen fiber. In a proof-of-principle study, biopsies were collected from six coxarthritis-affected patients, aged 62–87 years, during hip prosthesis implant surgery, sliced down 100 µm-thick tissues, and investigated using scanning small-angle wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS WAXS) transmission microscopy. A multi-modal imaging evaluation SAXS WAXS data, combined with principal component canonical correlation analyses, allowed transformation raw data into microscopy images inspection nanoscale structure fibers across mm2 tissue areas. The shown be suitable choice for characterizing quantifying nanostructural properties over extended results suggest existence between age cross-linking-induced rigidity fibers.
