摘要: Abstract To learn from others, children rely on cues (e.g., familiarity, confidence) to infer who around them will provide useful information. We extended this research ask whether use an informant’s inclination gesture as a marker of or not the informant is good person from. Children (N = 459, ages 4–12 years) watched short videos in which actresses made statements accompanied by meaningful iconic gestures, beat gestures (which act prosodic markers with speech), no gestures. After each trial, were asked “Who do you think would be teacher?” (good teacher [experimental] condition) friend?” friend [control] condition). Results show that believe someone produces make compared does not, but only later childhood and if have propensity see meaningful. The same effects found condition, indicating children’s responses are just about liking adult more. These findings implications for how attend instructional gesture.
