摘要: Abstract Various models for the control of timing initiation chromosome replication in Escherichia coli B r have been analyzed. Control mechanisms which require protein synthesis, rifampicin-sensitive RNA synthesis or a fixed cell size at moment are judged to be unlikely. Furthermore, evidence an involvement two distinct classes proteins preparation initiation, distinguishable by sensitivity their chloramphenicol, was not detected. The seems controlled envelope apparently elongation between origins envelope- bound sister chromosomes. Studies on effects chloramphenicol and penicillin suggest that this process may encompass, but does require, septum-crosswall formation. As possible mechanism process, it is proposed bacterial contains segment involved replication. One end attached other locus initiated (the chromosomal origin). An envelope-bound apparatus driven along means growth attachment site. When reaches origin, initiates. membrane distance now existing site could define region DNA cell, approximately equal length Okazaki fragment. After begins, new formed, perhaps through transcription genes segment, begins again them next initiation. By means, determined rate growth.
