摘要: Abstract Recent developments in educational transitions research suggest a decomposition of qualitative dimensions within levels that are (nearly) universal. However, on long-term trends social stratification the structurally tracked system Netherlands has not been published previously. In Netherlands, secondary level is divided into four hierarchical tracks which each lead to different options for subsequent decisions. A rapid increase participation higher over time however, may have changed background-specific distribution early track placement. This paper improves upon previous inequality by incorporating perspective tracking research. The Dutch decomposed its tracks, using frame covers cohorts entered education between 1946 and 1998. application multinomial logit regressions reveals choice strongly depending background features, measured as parents occupational status father. We found linear downward effects fathers’ occupation intermediate WWII 90s. parental also decrease after WWII, but trend curvilinear enduring. Unexpectedly, almost reach their youngest cohort. Our results furthermore controversial reform 1968 neither triggered nor accelerated equalization education, although it resulted growth senior general (HAVO).
