摘要: Twin CX9C proteins are eukaryotic that derive their name from characteristic motif, consisting of two pairs cysteines form disulfide bonds stabilizing a coiled coil–helix–coiled coil–helix (CHCH) fold. The best characterized these Cox17, copper chaperone acting in cytochrome c oxidase biogenesis, and Mia40, the central component system for protein import into mitochondrial inter-membrane space (IMS). However, range possible functions is unclear. Here, we performed systematic search twin organisms, classified them groups putative homologues, by combining bioinformatics methods with literature analysis. Our results suggest most vary around common theme playing scaffolding role, which can tie observed roles structure function. This study will enhance present annotation proteomes, provide rational basis future experimental work aimed at deeper understanding this remarkable class proteins.
