摘要: A review is provided concerning the thermodynamic and electrical characteristics of nonstoichiometric magnetite, Fe3(1-δ)O4. Great stress placed on need for careful preparation appropriate annealing single crystal specimens. Information needed to prepare material a given δ value provided. For δ≤0·0039 magnetite undergoes first-order phase change at Verwey transition; δ>0·0039 second or higher order. Corresponding types changes are encountered in resistivity Seebeck coefficient measurements. Some aspects transition discussed.
