摘要: Objective : This investigation was undertaken to determine whether a grape seed extract (GSE) that is rich in mono-, oligo- and poly- meric polyphenols would modify postprandial oxidative stress inflammation individuals with the metabolic syndrome (MetS). Background MetS known be associated impaired glucose tolerance poor glycemic control. Consumption of meal high readily available carbohydrates fat causes increases glycemia lipidemia markers stress, insulin resistance. Materials/methods After an overnight fast, twelve subjects (5 men 7 women) consumed breakfast carbohydrate cross-over design. A GSE (300 mg) or placebo capsule administrated 1 hr before (-1 hr). Changes plasma insulin, glucose, inflammatory were measured hourly for 6 hr. Results Plasma hydrophilic oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) as positive incremental area under curve 5 hr) significantly increased when preceded by compared (P 0.05). No changes evident. Conclusion These data suggest enhances antioxidant status reduces response meal, MetS. Key words Polyphenols, Oxidative Inflammation, ORAC, Oxidized LDL
