摘要: This paper was prepared in partial fulfillment for Doctoral Degree Physical Therapy at Texas Woman's University Houston, TX. Resistance training is frequently used rehabilitation to improve musculoskeletal function. The increased ability of skeletal muscle generate force following resistance results from two important changes: 1) the adaptation fiber, and 2) extent which motor unit can activate (neural adaption). purpose this article provide a review research investigating effects on fibers nervous system input. Muscle fiber adaptations caused by include cross-sectional area (hypertrophy, hyperplasia, or both), selective hypertrophy fast twitch fibers, decreased maintained mitochondrial number capillary density muscle, possible changes energy sources. Changes input resulting recruitment an firing rate units, reflex potentiation, improved synchronization. An understanding occurring response provides fundamental basis appropriate clinical exercise programs be developed patients. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 1990;12(6):248-255.
