摘要: Type III secretion systems enable pathogens to inject their virulence factors directly into the cytoplasm of host cells. The type system Vibrio harveyi, a major pathogen aquatic organisms and model species in quorum sensing studies, is repressed by master regulator LuxR. In this study, we found that during infection gnotobiotic brine shrimp larvae, expression levels three operons V. harveyi increased within first 12h after challenge decreased again thereafter. vivo were highest mutant with locked low cell density configuration (minimal LuxR levels) lowest high (maximal levels), which consistent repression Remarkably, genes much (> 1000 fold) higher than vitro levels, indicating (currently unknown) significantly induce system. Given fact energy-consuming, regulators might be mechanism save energy under conditions where it does not provide an advantage
