摘要: Immunological memory is a cardinal feature of adaptive immunity and an important goal vaccination strategies. Here we highlight advances in the understanding diverse T lymphocyte subsets that provide acute long-term protection from infection. These include new insights into transcription factors, upstream 'pioneering' factors regulate their accessibility to key sites gene regulation, as well metabolic regulators contribute differentiation effector subsets; ontogeny defining characteristics tissue-resident lymphocytes; origins remarkable heterogeneity exhibited by activated cells. Collectively, these findings underscore progress delineating underlying pathways control diversification cell responses but also reveal gaps knowledge, challenges arise application this knowledge rationally elicit desired through immunotherapy.
