摘要: Abstract Background Cardiac catheterization is commonly performed before repair of ventricular septal defect (VSD) in infancy. No study has addressed the accuracy echocardiography alone defining all important anatomic features this population. Methods Consecutive infants undergoing VSD between 1991 and 1995 ( n = 156) were reviewed. The number additional VSDs presence associated lesions recorded for each technique compared with a reference standard consisting combination surgical findings plus postoperative clinical findings. right muscle bundles, subaortic ridge, persistent ductus arteriosus. Results sensitivity specificity detection was 60% 99% 53% 97% cardiac 73% 96% both techniques. These differences not statistically significant. seen lesions. Conclusion Routine preoperative primary diagnosis probably no longer justified. Am Heart J 1998;135:907-13.)
