摘要: Most epithelial tissues self-renew throughout adult life due to the presence of multipotent stem cells and/or unipotent progenitor cells. Epithelial are specified during development and controlled by epithelial-mesenchymal interactions. Despite morphological functional differences among epithelia, common signaling pathways appear control cell maintenance, activation, lineage determination, differentiation. Additionally, deregulation these can lead human disorders including cancer. Understanding biology has major clinical implications for diagnosis, prevention, treatment diseases, as well regenerative medicine.
