摘要: Purpose: To determine the putative role of acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) in maintaining normal intercellular communication lens through connexin. Methods: In present study, Wistar rat pups were divided into 3 groups eight each. On postpartum day ten, Group I received an intraperitoneal injection (50 µl) 0.89% saline. Rats Groups II and III a subcutaneous sodium selenite (19 µmol/kg bodyweight); also ALCAR (200 mg/kg bodyweight) once daily on days 9–14. Both eyes each pup examined from 16 up to 30. Alterations mean activity channel pumps, calcium-ATPase sodium/ potassium-ATPase, determined. The expression genes encoding key lenticular gap junctions (connexin 46 connexin 50) pump (plasma membrane Ca 2+ -ATPase [PMCA1]) was evaluated by reverse transcriptionPCR. Immunoblot analysis performed confirm differential proteins. addition, bioinformatics interacting residues proteins with ALCAR. Results: Significantly lower activities Na + /K observed lenses rats than those lenses. However, significantly higher mRNA transcript levels 50 lower, while PMCA1 gene transcripts higher, confirmed altered lysates whole rats. group essentially similar that noted (Group I) Hydrogen bond-interaction between amino acid at functional domain regions demonstrated tools. Conclusions: results suggest plays homeostasis promoting junctional communication.
