摘要: Cultured skin substitutes (CSS) have become a useful adjunctive treatment for closure of burn wounds, but CSS are avascular and remain susceptible to microbial destruction longer than split-thickness grafts. Irrigation grafted wounds with topical antimicrobial solution (TAS) has been shown promote engraftment CSS, TAS usage potential limitations. Acticoat Burn Dressing (Acticoat; Westaim Biomedical, Exeter, NH) is silver-coated barrier dressing reported exhibit activity reduce infection in partial-thickness full-thickness wounds. This study evaluated the cytotoxicity efficacy management contamination athymic mice. The was assessed preliminary studies after 1 week exposure during vitro maturation or healing on Histologies were analyzed cellular viability determined by MTT conversion days 0, 1, 7 exposure. At 2, 3, 4 weeks grafting, traced, areas calculated image analysis. weeks, wound biopsies scored human cells. In subsequent study, inoculated strain SBI-N Pseudomonas aeruginosa at x 10(5) cfu/wound before application onto surface Acticoat. swab cultures collected from presence SBI-N. Statistical significance accepted 95% confidence level (P <.05). data show that cytotoxic within day, vivo did not injure inhibit healing. Contaminated treated healed similarly control treatments, comparable rates engraftment, detection only one graft. No detected inoculation These results suggest may be suitable as protective environmental if used conjunction additional antimicrobials organisms present wound.
