Evaluation of the clinical process in a critical care information system using the Lean method: a case study

摘要: There are numerous applications for Health Information Systems (HIS) that support specific tasks in the clinical workflow. The Lean method has been used increasingly to optimize workflows, by removing waste and shortening delivery cycle time. a limited number of studies on related HIS. Therefore, we applied evaluate processes HIS, order its efficiency optimizing process flow. This paper presents evaluation findings these processes, with regards critical care information system (CCIS), known as IntelliVue Clinical Portfolio (ICIP), recommends solutions problems were identified during study. We conducted case study under actual settings, investigate how can be improve process. observations, interviews, document analysis, achieve our stated goal. also two tools from methodology, namely Value Stream Mapping A3 problem-solving tools. eVSM software plot Map reports. inefficiency process, proposed an improved model. show reports identify integrate steps more efficiently. standardized model suggested integrated combines database reduce data redundancy.
