摘要: Background:  Recurrent oral aphthous ulceration (ROAU) is a common problem that can result in considerable pain and distress for patients. The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the role subantimicrobial dose doxycycline (SDD – 20 mg twice daily) management patients with ROAU. Methods:  50 ROAU were randomly allocated treatment SDD or placebo 90 days. Daily ulcer diaries completed by participants record number new ulcers associated ulcers. Results:  There significantly more days no group (80.4 ± 5.9) than (69.8 ± 18.7; P = 0.04). Strong trends observed towards fewer per day, over 90-day period, compared (P = 0.06–0.08). Conclusion:  shows promise as potential therapy ROAU, though needs be confirmed further studies.
