摘要: Different strategies have been adopted to track and monitor red deer ( Cervus elaphus ) populations according different habitats ecosystems. The population census techniques usually carried out are time consuming involve lot of manpower. A method that relies on individual animal signs like acoustic indices could be useful support the wildlife management, since vocalisations can encode transmit a variety biologically significant information. present study considered 460 roars recorded from 14 adult deers, five eight years old. Recordings were performed in locations northern-central Italy. spectrum each roar was analysed order extract its main features, namely: fundamental frequency (F0), peak (PF), sound length (SL) 24 bins 174.3 Hz, representing distribution between 50 4233.2 Hz (F1 F24). Statistical analyses showed individuality age animals F0 (P0.90; P<0.001), indicating influence spectral features roaring. roaring variables appear indicators male deer, even if strong emitted sounds compromise reliability over long periods time.
