摘要: An STM tip tunneling on a metal surface at the appropriate bias voltage is light source. The mechanism for this effect inelastic tunneling, whereby electron gives portion of its energy to spontaneously radiative electromagnetic modes. As such, photon emission provides us with tool look into tunneling. Here I review some interesting physics underlying fascinating and show how probability governed by dielectric geometric properties both sample several length scales. discuss experiments respect spatial confinement tip-induced plasmon (TIP) modes, tip-sample distance influences strength modes Finally present evidence that suggests events occur towards end through barrier elastically.
