摘要: Objectives/Hypothesis Despite careful selection processes, residency programs face the challenge of training residents who fall below minimal performance standards. Poor a resident can endanger both patient safety and reputation program. It is important, therefore, for program to identify such implement strategies their successful remediation. The purpose our study was gather information on evaluation remediation employed by different otolaryngology programs. Study Design Cross-sectional survey. Methods We conducted national survey, sending questionnaire directors 106 programs. We collected demographics program, identification problematic residents, strategies. Results The response rate 74.5%, with 2% cumulative incidence in during past 10 years. most frequently reported deficiencies were unprofessional behavior colleagues/staff (38%), insufficient medical knowledge (37%), poor clinical judgment (34%). Personal or professional stress identified underlying problem (70.5%). Remediation efforts included general counseling (78%), frequent feedback sessions (73%), assignment mentor (58%), extra didactics (47%).
