摘要: Although children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show atypical sensory processing, evidence for impaired integration of multisensory information has been mixed. In this study, we took a Bayesian model-based approach to assess within-modality congruent and incongruent texture disparity cues judge slant in typical autistic adolescents. Human adults optimally combine multiple sources reduce perceptual variance but development ability integrate does not develop until late childhood. While cannot help cues, even when they are incongruent, young children's keep separate gives them an advantage discriminating stimuli. Given that mature cue emerges later childhood, hypothesized adolescents would adult-like integration, combining both cues. For the ASD group there were three possible predictions (1) “no fusion”: no or like 6-year-old children; (2) “mandatory adults; (3) “selective combined consistent Enhanced Perceptual Functioning (EPF) theory. As hypothesized, showed significant The results fusion,” integrating This allowed make judgments which could not. line EPF, suggest perception may be more flexible less governed by mandatory top-down feedback.
